Flexibility in Shopify Plans: Upgrading, Downgrading, and Switching Plan Types
As a growing business owner or an entrepreneur, the evolving nature of your online store may require you to adjust your business strategies accordingly. One such crucial aspect is your Shopify plan. Thankfully, the flexibility offered by Shopify allows you to change your plan anytime based on your business needs.
Can I Change My Shopify Plan?
The answer is a resounding yes! You can upgrade, downgrade, or even switch to a different plan type based on your requirements. Whether you're a beginner looking to start small or a seasoned professional wanting more advanced features, Shopify's plans can adapt to your growth.
Steps to Change Your Shopify Plan
To change your current Shopify plan, follow these straightforward steps:
Log into your Admin: Begin by accessing your Shopify Admin. Go to Settings Account: Navigate to the Settings section and click on Account. Review Plan Details: In the Account overview section, click on the Compare plans button to see the available plan options. Select a New Plan: Choose the plan that best suits your new business requirements and click Choose this plan. Adjust Billing Cycle: Select the billing cycle that works for you. If you change from one billing cycle to another, your current bill will close and a new bill for the new plan will be issued. Any unused time you have already paid for will be credited to your account. Confirm Changes: Once you're ready, click Confirm changes to finalize the new agreement or Cancel if you wish to revert your changes. What Happens When I Change My Plan?
When you switch your plan, a bill is generated immediately showing the subscription fee for your new plan. The cost of your previous plan is prorated and applied against the cost of the new subscription for the month of change. Notably, other pending charges on your account will not be included in this bill. These charges will be billed based on your billing threshold or at the end of your billing cycle.
What to Expect During a Plan Change
Shopify sends you an email to inform you about any change in your billing date if you upgrade to an active plan during your free trial period. This ensures that you are aware of any changes and can manage your finances accordingly.
If you need immediate assistance with plan changes, consider reaching out to Shopify Support. They are always ready to help you navigate through any challenges you might face.
