The Eternal Creation: Understanding God, Time, and Jesus

In discussions about creation, some individuals may refer to the Watchtower Society and the doctrine found in John 1:3. However, it is important to clarify that according to biblical teachings, time is not a creation but a continuum that reflects the eternal nature of God Himself.

John 1:3: Misunderstanding the Creation of the Universe

John 1:3 states, 'All things came into existence through him [the Word, Jesus Christ], and apart from him not even one thing came into existence.' This verse is often used to discuss the physical creation of the universe and everything in it, but it does not indicate that time was created. Time has always existed, as an infinite continuum, in accordance with the eternal nature of God. Attempting to reason about the beginning of time or derive any finite definition of God's eternal nature will undoubtedly lead to confusion and, as some have suggested, a headache!

Understanding Jehovah's Witnesses and Their Beliefs

For those who are unfamiliar with the Watchtower Society or Jehovah's Witnesses, it is important to clarify that we are indeed adherents of this faith. We believe that Jesus Christ, while a key figure in the creation and sustenance of the universe, was created by Jehovah God. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, it is my pleasure to address such questions with clarity and precision.

The Creation of Everything

According to Colossians 1:15-16, 'He [Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Because by him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities... all other things, other than Jehovah God Himself, have been created through him and for him."

Through Jesus, the only begotten and firstborn son of Jehovah God, all other creations, including the universe, angels, and life on Earth, were brought into existence. This is a core belief that aligns with other biblical texts, such as Psalm 36:9, which states, 'With you is the source of life; by your light we can see light.'

Jesus and His Role in Creation

Jesus, as the second member of the Godhead, played a crucial role in the creation process. He acknowledged God as the creator, as seen in Matthew 19:4, where Jesus states, 'Have you not read that the one who created them from the beginning made them male and female?' Similarly, Hebrews 3:4 affirms, 'Of course every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God.'

Considering the close relationship between Father and Son during the creation of the universe, one can only imagine the joy and harmony present in their labor. Even now, God continues to work towards the perfection of all creation, as indicated in the prophecy of Paradise Lost to Paradise Restored, fulfilling the ultimate theme of the Bible.

Thus, while time is not a creation but an eternal continuum reflecting the nature of God, it is essential to understand that the universe, along with all its elements, was created through Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of Jehovah God.
